Dr. Mark Holliday, professor of computer science at WCU

Me

“Grant did an outstanding job on BonesDB, his forensic anthropology database capstone project. He demonstrated a high level of skill and dedication on all the parts of the application from React on the front-end, through Node and Express, and back to MongoDB as the database system. He and his partner continually exceeded my expectations on how much they accomplished and the quality of their work. I wish all my capstone students had the ability and dedication that Grant demonstrated.”

“Grant also was my teacher's assistant in our weekly closed lab for our first course in the Computer Science major which is about learning to program using Python. This meant he spent the two hours of the lab in the room with the students answering their questions and evaluating the correctness and quality of their work. I was in the room also and was always impressed by how he worked with the students. He was respectful to the students and was able to understand any conceptual problems a student would have and be able to lead the student in the right direction with clear explanations and guidance. I could not have asked for a better student helper to be with me in our lab sessions.”
